The Bethesda Park Board is a three-member board that oversees Bethesda’s Epworth Park and Bethesda Ball Fields. The Bethesda Park Board is committed to making Epworth Park the gem of Bethesda. With the generous support of our local community we are able to have the Bethesda Gun Bash that not only helps support the Park Projects but also helps Bethesda Fire Department. Because of this and many generous donations we have been able to cross off many items on our project list.
In 2019, Epworth saw the completion of the following park projects:
- Completed the walking trail
- Replaced all park bridges
- Built a third park shelter
- New picnic tables for the shelters
- New benches for ballpark dug outs
- Painted concession stand and dug outs
- Painted dock wall on cottage side of lake
- Wooden fence installed on dam
- Sealing and striping of basketball court
The Park Projects could not have been completed without the generous support from individual community members, local businesses, and local service organizations. Our bridge and trail projects funding also included ODNR Natureworks grant, EQT Foundation grant, Capital Improvement grant, State of Ohio through Senator Frank Hoagland, grant from “Give Belmont County” formerly Smith Goshen Rice Enrichment Fund. Local individual donations specifically for trail and bridge project were received from Bethesda Belmont Morristown Rotary Club, Belmont Mills, Bethesda’s Sportsman’s Club, Joel Braido, William Knox CPA, Mike and Marsha McCormick, Tom Friend, and Large Veterinary Service.
We hope in the spring of 2020 to officially open the trail, recognizing these groups and individuals, inviting them and our community for a celebration.
Special thanks to Derek Roby and his landscaping crew for keeping our park grounds mowed and trimmed. Appreciation extended to the village administrator and village employees for the many maintenance projects and duties completed to keep our park operating throughout the year. This includes but is not limited to: Maintaining shelter rentals, opening and closing of park restrooms, garbage removal, cleaning of tree limbs, installation of park fountain, as well as many special projects through out the year.
Shelter rentals are available.
